Introduction
Welcome to the world ofMabinogi.
You will now be living in a fantasy world called
Erinn.
Mabinogi means stories and prose sung and passed down by medieval poets. Here, these stories will be filled with your adventures.
The adventures you take, the stories you create, how your character will act and live, are all entirely up to you.
Love and nurture your character as you live vicariously through them in Erinn. Explore all the possibilities of your imagination.
May Aton Cimeni bless you on this journey...
Basic Skills
Move
Left-click on the mouse on the location to which you want to move. If you hold down the mouse button, your character will continue to go towards that area. If you hold [Shift] while you move, you will walk.
Controlling View Angles
3D games can be difficult for some people, because of the difficulty of controlling the view angles. With Mabinogi, you can easily control your view angles. To change the view, either use the right-click on the mouse or the mouse wheel. Hold down the right-click button of the mouse and move the mouse around. You will be able to change your viewing angle. Next, roll the mouse wheel up and down. By doing so, you can zoom in and out.
The default setting automatically points the viewing angle towards north. If you want to manually control your view, press [Z]. However, auto view makes it easier to find places using the map.
Menu
You can view the basic windows by clicking on the different menu buttons on the bottom.
If you click the menu again once it's opened, the window will close. To open it again, you simply click on the menu button.
Test this out by clicking on the 'Character' button to check your status. Now, click on the button again and see the window close.
Map
The Mini Map located on the top right is the map of this place. You can turn on/off the map by pressing [M].
Item
How can you pick up items? Simply click on the item. Once you click on the item, it will attach to your cursor. Similarly, to drop the item, simply click on where you want to drop it off.
To use an item, right-click on the item and select 'Use'. You can also left-click on the item while you hold down the [CTRL] button.
Growth
The first way to grow your character is to train your skills and earn EXP. Open the Skills window from the bottom and click on the 'Combat Mastery'.
The list under the Training Method or Practice Method is how you can earn EXP. You can train any skill, and it will raise your character's overall EXP. Once you have mastered every skill, you will need to find another way to level-up.
You can also earn EXP from completing quests or through hunting. Compared to other activities in the game, hunting will not increase your EXP significantly. To raise your EXP through hunting, you must find a strong opponent, go through dungeons, or create a party and hunt.
Ability(AP)
There is something called Ability Points. Click on the 'Character' button right now and look at it. You need these points to earn a new skill or level up an existing skill. The following are ways to raise your AP.
* Complete an important quest- 1 AP
* Level up your character- 1 AP
* Aging bonus for your character- 0~5 AP
Basic Quests
Press [Q] and it lists your current quests in progress. In the beginning, the villagers will give you quests. Try completing each of those quests.
Quest Scrolls
Most stores sell Quest Scrolls which entail a specific quest. Some are even free, so try the cheap and easy ones in the beginning. Each Quest Scroll tells you how to earn money, EXP or items.
Open your Inventory, right-click on the Quest Scroll, and select 'Read'. You can also read the quest's mission through the Quest window as well.
Part-time Jobs
You can talk to NPCs using the 'About Jobs' keyword to earn part-time jobs. Compared to other activities, you can make a lot of money through part-time jobs. However, easy jobs can get competitive, so you should find jobs that aren't as popular or get the job before others do.
Hunting
To hunt, you need a weapon or magic. You can also fight with your bare hands if you don't have anything.
You can find out specific details from Ranald at the School.
If you press [A], it toggles between Auto Combat and Manual Combat. If you are still a beginner and not completely familiar with hunting, use Auto Combat mode.
Chatting
Chatting with other players
You can chat with others by pressing the [ENTER] key. Type in what you want to say and again press [ENTER] to send your message. If you type in designated emotions, it will change your character's expression. If you press Ctrl+ENTER, your talking balloon will change to a thinking balloon.
Chatting with NPC
When you place your cursor on characters with a small sign that says NPC next to their name, your cursor will indicate that you can speak to them. Then left-click on the mouse and you will begin a conversation with them.
Keyword
When talking with an NPC, you can talk specifically about certain keywords. Similar to this book you are reading, a small notebook with keywords will appear during your conversation. This notebook records all the keywords you've learned all throughout your journey.
New keywords will be categorized automatically in the notebook, so flip through the book carefully to see where they are.
When you meet a new NPC, try talking to them using various keywords to learn new information.
Talking with others is the basic way to obtain information. You can learn many things by not only talking with NPCs, but with other players as well. Just remember to be polite~ You won't get good feedback if you randomly go around asking strangers without trying first for yourself. You will be able to find most of the information on your own.
Earning Money
Part-time Job
You can earn around 400 gold through part-time jobs, and more as you get experienced. Usually, you have to report back by evening. You don't have to complete the job perfectly to get paid, so make sure you always report back even if you haven't fully finished the job.
Selling Items
There are various ways to get items. You can even hit trees and obtain small items. You can earn more valuable commodities by defeating monsters or making them yourself. You can either use these items or make money by selling them. You can begin by selling eggs. However, you can only sell them one at a time, which can get pretty tedious.
Making Items
You can make your own clothes or armor and sell them as well.
However, it won't sell for much at the stores. Stores sell for a high price, but buy back items at a cheaper rate. That means you can sell your items to others for a pretty high price as well.
Make items that other players need and sell it to them. The store prices are only there as a standard, so don't be discouraged if your items don't sell for as much.
Quest Reward
When you solve a Quest Scroll, you will receive what was written in the quest. Some quests give a lot of gold, whereas some quests offer more EXP, so check the quests before you buy them. Some quests can also be done as a Party. Also, quests have time limits, so be careful.
Hunting
When you hunt animals or monsters near town, they will often drop items or gold. Sometimes they will drop something called an 'Evil Scroll'. You can buy quests from NPCs that ask you to collect these scrolls, so don't throw them away.
Final Words
Some books have magic seals on them. If you read through these books, your skill level or EXP will increase, so don't just let it collect dust. I wish the best of luck to you...
